Private Company Wall Street Outreach Case Study

The Challenge

When LeftHand Networks began to anticipate a future IPO or strategic exit, they turned to IGNITE Consulting to help them optimize the Company’s equity valuation.

The Solution

IGNITE implemented an Investor Relations program that proactively built credibility and relationships with Wall Street and key market influencers. The program:

  • Identified priority targets and prospects, including 20+ Wall Street analysts, the financial media, venture capitalists, prospective investors and potential partners;
  • Developed messaging, positioning, metrics and presentation development;
  • Identified analysts, recruited and built relationships with influencers;
  • Held regular non-deal roadshows and company updates with Wall Street; and
  • Conducted annual perception studies to measure effectiveness.

Results/Key Highlights

  • Maintained relationships with Wall Street analysts and targeted investors, resulting in more than 150 briefings over a four-year period.
  • Achieved multiple positive mentions in analyst reports from Citigroup, RBC, Merrill Lynch, CS First Boston, Needham and Co, JMP Securities, William Blair, RW Baird, Pacific Crest and others.
  • Improved Wall Street perceptions, including views on management and strategy, competitive positioning and growth potential.
  • Supported a successful exit strategy. LeftHand Networks was acquired by Hewlett-Packard in November 2008 for $360M in cash, a strong valuation within the existing markets.
